Explicit Consent

This text asks for your explicit consent to process health certificate validity dates on MarinersLobby. Giving consent is optional: without it you can still use every feature of the platform; you just cannot add these dates to your profile.

1. What Data?

  • The expiry date of your seafarer medical certificate
  • The expiry date of your yellow fever vaccination; if the vaccination is valid for life, no date is entered

The document, document number, date of issue, issuing body, diagnosis or any other health information is not taken or stored. The dates are your own declaration; the platform does not verify them.

These dates are not in themselves diagnosis or treatment information. However, because they show that a health certificate exists and is valid, they are protected like the special categories of personal data in Article 6 of the Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 (the "KVKK") and are processed only with your explicit consent.

2. What Are They Used For?

  • To show companies that are hiring, on your profile, that the certificate is valid
  • To work out, in the suitability check on job postings, whether the health certificate a posting requires is valid for you
  • To find candidates whose required certificates are valid, in candidate matching and search by verified companies

The dates are not used for any other purpose, are not sold and are not used for advertising.

3. Who Can See Them?

The dates are not shown on your public profile or your CV. Only verified employers you have not blocked and companies you have applied to can see them.

4. Where and for How Long Are They Stored?

The dates are kept on our server in Türkiye. Encrypted backups of the database are kept for 35 days with a service provider abroad; this transfer is made in accordance with Article 9 of the KVKK.

The dates are kept until you delete them, withdraw your consent or your account is deleted.

You can withdraw your consent at any time from the certificates section of your profile. When you withdraw it, all health certificate dates are deleted at once; they also disappear from the encrypted backups within 35 days at the latest. When you gave and when you withdrew your consent is recorded (time, IP address, browser information). Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before it.

If you want to add the dates again, you will be asked for your consent again.
